Datsun F-II was produced as 3 or 5 - door hatchback or as 3 door coupe. It was equipped in 1000 or 1200 ccm great engine. In spite of 1 year guarantee their long life demonstrate how good cars were made by japan factories in 70'.
Datsun Cherry N10. Produced in 78-82. It was exported to many countries in the world.
N10 and N12 are very different. Different engine, chassis and interior. Neverthless, many common concepts were applied in nissan cherry. It was offered as a three- or five - door hatchback, as a three - door coupe and as an estate.
In 1981 Alfa Romeo presented a succesor of its model Alfasud. It was a child of the joint-venture of Nissan and Alfa and the producers called it Arna. It was produced in an Italian factory near Pratola Serra, but the chassis and the bodywork were imported from Japan. This mixed product never made a market succes. Therefore, the production was stopped a few months later.
Nissan cherry had two modernizations. The first version, as a Datsun Cherry succesor, was bigger and more economical than N10. It was offered only as a three- and five - door hatchback. Coupe was sold as Pulsar (see bottom of this page). The estate and the sedan was called Sunny.
The changes were rather small. A new design involved some cosmetic modifications in the Cherry appearance. Equipment was offered in two standards - DX(standard) and GL(luxus - with some gadgets like a tachometer, interior doorpanels fully covered with cloth, open rear trunk lit and fuel cap from inside etc.).
Serious modernizations were introduced in the end of 1984. Apart from the change in appearance (the car was bigger, had another front and rear lamps) the interior was also modified. A year later Nissan offered the first Cherry with a catalytic converter.
Cherry was assembled in Australia under the name Pulsar. This model differed from the European model. It has another desktop and diffrent equipment (just like in the case of American version). The most interesting model was a sports model ET (in Europe this model was labelled GTT). These cars had a sports interior and a powerful turbo engine.
Nissan Pulsar EXE (sometimes also called NX) was a sport coupe version of Cherry with 1.5 turbo engine (identical with the model ET). Althought this model is lighter than Pulsar ET performance, these cars are almost identical. This car was a precursor of small, cheap and fast cars for those who wanted to be individuals.
In Japan (and not only)at that time it was possible to see Japanese version of Cherry called Langley. Like in other models, differences were insignificiant and connected with local preferences. This version has a better engine and although that it looks like Cherry '84 It had been produced from 1982. Besides, this car has wonderful mirrors.
